Purpose

This page outlines the process of how to set up ad extensions on a Google Ads account.

Application

This process applies to the individual building the account or running operations on the Google account. 

1. Select the Extensions

Start by clicking the ads and assets column and then clicking on Assets.



We generally use the following extensions on the ads account :
  • Image
  • Business Name
  • Business Logo
  • Sitelink
  • Callout
  • Structured Snippet
  • Call 

2. Image Extension

For the image extensions, ensure you only use high-quality images. Click on the image tab and then the plus button. Make sure you apply the images to ALL campaigns. Once you've completed this, click done.


3. Business Name

For the business name, click the business name tab, then the plus button. Enter the full business name. Make sure it is applied at the account level. Once finished, click done.

4. Business Logo

For the business logo, choose a version that ideally has few to no words on it. This will help avoid it getting disapproved by Google. Go to the logo tab, click the plus button, and upload the logo. Then, make sure it is applied at the account level. For the logo size, make sure it is correct according to Google's parameters. 

5. Create Sitelink

To create the sitelink, go to the sitelink tab and click the plus button. Make sure it is applied at the account level. Look at the site and try to determine 3 or 4 spots people may want to go on the site.

Ensure you include the link to each area and click save once it is completed.

6. Callouts

Callouts are 25-character or less text in the ad. They are normally either services provided by the business or CTAs. Go to the callout tab and click the plus button. Make sure it is applied at the account level. Enter the callouts, then click save once you're done.

7. Structured Snippets

Structured snippets will normally be service catalogues. Ensure the assets are applied at the account level. Choose the top 3 to 5 services the business provides and enter them into the value columns. Click save once completed.

8. Call Assets

Call assets are simply the business's primary phone number. Ensure the country and format of the number are correct. Use calls from ads as the conversion action. Make sure it is applied to the account level, and click save.

You are now done adding the assets to the account. Make sure to include them when doing the account build sheet.
