Purpose

This page aims to outline the best practices for conducting Matterport scans at Buzz Marketing, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and high-quality results in delivering virtual tours to clients.

Application

All team members responsible for conducting Matterport scans at Buzz Marketing should utilize the best practices.

1. Gather Necessary Gear

Ensure the Matterport camera is charged and in proper working order. Also, verify that the iPad or tablet that controls the Matterport camera is charged and has the Matterport Capture app installed. Additionally, ensure the stability and condition of the tripod before proceeding. If necessary, prepare any extra lighting equipment.

2. Scanning

Arrive at the location at the scheduled time and assess the space for potential obstacles or challenges. Then, start scanning from the entry point and move systematically through the space. Capture additional scans for areas of interest or specific client requests, and take multiple scans of each area from different angles to ensure comprehensive coverage.

Ensure consistent spacing between scan points for smooth transitions in the final tour. Be sure to pay attention to details such as reflections, shadows, and mirrors that may affect the scan quality.

3. Processing & Setup

Use the Matterport Capture app to process the scans into a cohesive virtual tour. Afterward, review the tour for errors or missing areas and make the necessary adjustments. To enrich the tour, add annotations, labels, or other requested information.

Finally, test the tour on the device to confirm smooth navigation and functionality. Make sure to maintain a backup of all scanned data and virtual tours to prevent file loss or corruption.

4. Sending to the Client

Once satisfied with the virtual tour, export it from the Matterport Capture app and upload it to the designated platform or server for client access. Ensure that the client is provided with the necessary links or embed codes to view the tour. Follow up with the client to ensure satisfaction and address any feedback or concerns.

Also, ensure proper communication with the client regarding scheduling, expectations, and any specific requirements for the virtual tour.

5. Maintenance

Update the software and firmware for the Matterport camera and Capture app regularly to ensure compatibility and optimal performance. Also, continuously seek opportunities for skill enhancement and stay updated on new features or techniques related to Matterport scanning.
